My first drawing project: from January 2015, I made weekly sketchbook studies (see below), based around Stourhead lake and gardens, exploring some of the more secret places in and around this most beautiful and fascinating location, throughout all months and seasons of the year.
These studies led towards my ‘stourhead / fifty- two / twelve / four’ exhibition, held at First View Gallery in the Spread Eagle Courtyard at Stourhead from 15 April – 6 May 2016. On show were 52 weekly studies (see examples below), as well as 12 larger paintings, representing the months of the year. There were also 4 much larger pieces, one for each season. Donations and a proportion of exhibition sales raised over £1200 in aid of Alzheimers Support
More recently I have been making larger plein air drawings at Stourhead, using mixed media (pen, oil pastel, watercolour, ink and stick, oil base pencils) on Full Imperial (76 x 56cm) HP watercolour paper.
These drawings are regularly on exhibition at First View Gallery, Stourhead where a range of prints of the drawings are also available.
